World Figure Sport will host an art gallery contest at the World Figure & Fancy Skating Championships on black ice from October 8-12, 2025. Please see the below details to enter.
Artists of all ages are encouraged to submit artworks featuring or related to Figure Artwork and Fancy Skating in either classical or contemporary skating art categories or in either the classical or contemporary art genre categories. All mediums will be accepted and artists may submit more than one artwork when inspired to do so. Submissions will be available for viewing and judged by the public and a special World Figure Sport’s judging panel for the 5 days of the Festival.
To register for the gallery, please send the fee of $25 per artwork to World Figure Sport Society’s Venmo account no later than Wednesday, October 8, 2025 with a note including the artist’s mobile. If submitting more than one artwork, please send more than one transaction and list the mobile for efficiency for our office each time. If an artist needs the Venmo link or must pay another way, please communicate with WFS’s Global Headquarters by phone, text or WhatsApp to 518-304-3029.
Prizes to be awarded with the collection of votes by both the public and the WFS judges. The WFS Chief Accountant will tally the votes and award the prizes on Sunday evening at the Award Ceremony.
- Art can be any size.
- Artists should bring a 4×6 card listing:
- The Artist’s name, the artwork’s title, a short description, the art genre category and age category (under 18 or over 18).
- Types of Art:
- #1. Classical Skating Art
- #2. Contemporary Skating Art
- #3. Classical Art any genre
- #4. Contemporary Art any genre
- Artists must arrange for their art and 4×6 card to be hung on the wall by someone either attending Worlds 2025 or with WFS’s Art Ambassador. Entries shipped to WFS can be accepted with advance notice and communication to the WFS Headquarters at 518-304-3029.
- Do not ship Artwork submissions before processing the gallery registration fee.
- Artists who need to ship their artworks must include the 3M Command picture hanging strips in the box.
- The shipment must arrive no later than Monday, October 6, 2025.
- Send a photo of the tracking numbers in advance to our WFS Headquarters by text message so our Art Ambassador can plan accordingly.
- Artists arriving with their artworks are responsible for checking in and communicating with our Art Ambassador.
- Artists arriving in person may hanging their own art using their supplied 3M Command picture hanging strips.
- All artists should supply 3M Command picture hanging strips to World Figure Sport.
- Art must feature or be related to Figure Artwork. Possibilities include the depiction of finished figure artwork, or a Skating Artist creating figure artwork, or something more creative related to the beautiful shapes and patterns.
- Art may involve any medium: photography, drawing, painting, collage, charcoal, mixed medium, etc.
- Derivative works must be granted permission of the original artist, which must be notated on the 4×6 card. For example, an entrant with collage involving photos of others’ Figure Artworks please seek their permission and receive written approval by at least text message. If the image is the property of World Figure Sport’s Archives, please request permission, receive approval by at least text message and credit in the artwork should be listed in both cases.
- Artists are responsible for taking their art home upon the conclusion of Worlds 2025 or if shipped to Worlds artists pay the UPS store in Lake Placid to ship it home or they may donate it to World Figure Sport’s Archives and allow WFS to sell, display or repurpose it as they determine.
